Mahoning Avenue Sales Benefit Local Agencies’ Work

The Mahoning County Land Bank will hold a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25 at its recently acquired property at Mahoning Avenue and South Portland Avenue in Youngstown.

Youngstown CityScape will hold a mum sale and open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at CityScape@Briel’s on 23 South Belle Vista Ave., CityScape’s recently purchased greenhouse located at the former Briel’s Flowers.

Both sales are part of a partnership between the Land Bank and CityScape to boost commerce along Mahoning Avenue.

Items for sale at the Land Bank’s rummage sale will include ladders, sporting goods, bicycles, construction materials, hand tools, houseware and decor. All proceeds will benefit the Land Bank.

“We’re looking forward to selling the items we’ve collected while acquiring vacant houses,” said Debora Flora, executive director of the Land Bank.“We have quite a selection!”

“We’re delighted to welcome the neighborhood to visit our new greenhouse location! Stop by, and pick up some lovely fall mums,” said Sharon Letson, director of CityScape. “We will also have Rocky Ridge maple syrup and Youngstown notecards for sale.”

On Friday, the Youngstown City Health District also will be on-site at South Portland Avenue during the Land Bank rummage sale to offer walk-up COVID-19 vaccines to the general public, no appointments necessary. There also will be a pop-up Little Free Library both days.
