Land Bank, YNDC Announce First 3 Homes Up for Sale in Mineral Springs Revitalization

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (April 21, 2025) — The Mahoning County Land Bank is proud to announce that the first three of six new homes on Mineral Springs Avenue in the Idora neighborhood are now available for purchase. 

These homes, built in partnership with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., are part of a continuing effort to revitalize the area and provide affordable homeownership opportunities.

The newly constructed houses at 726, 730 and 738 Mineral Springs Ave. are priced at $180,000 each. 

 House features:

  • 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths
  • Open concept kitchen and living area
  • First-floor laundry
  • Approximately 1,500 square feet
  • Insulation and other energy-efficient measures that exceed code requirements
  • Two-car detached garage
  • An attractive location one block from the East Cohasset Hike and Bike Trail in Mill Creek MetroParks, three blocks from the Ford Nature Center and one block from the Youngstown Playhouse

“These homes reflect the redevelopment expertise YNDC has built over the past decade and the unique capabilities of the Land Bank to acquire and transform vacant, unproductive properties,” said Mahoning County Land Bank Executive Director Debora Flora. 

“By working together, we’re able to breathe new life into neighborhoods like this one, turning vacant land into quality housing options that contribute to the continued revitalization of Youngstown and the surrounding areas.”

“This is just the beginning,” said Ian Beniston, Executive Director of YNDC. “The Welcome Home Ohio funding will continue to make a lasting impact in the Youngstown area, not only supporting the development of new homes but also aiding in the renovation of existing homes. 

“We’re excited to see these investments strengthen our communities and provide affordable, quality housing for those who need it most.”

These six homes on Mineral Springs are priced to offer affordable options for those looking to become homeowners in the area. Qualified buyers must have a household income at or below 80 percent of the area median income.

Down payment assistance of up to $28,000 is available, including $10,000 from the City of Youngstown and an additional $18,000 for buyers who finance through Huntington Bank.
