Spotlight: George Rusnak Joins Land Bank
In this employee spotlight, we highlight George Rusnak, a recent addition to the Mahoning County Land Bank team. George brings years of experience and a dedication to making a positive impact in local communities.
Q: What do you do at the Land Bank?
A: I monitor contractors at demolition sites and document their progress through photos. I also document conditions at houses that have been recommended for demolition and check houses after they’ve been abated for asbestos to ensure the work was completed properly.
Q: What brought you to the Land Bank?
A: After 30 years in my previous job, I was able to retire, but I’m still too young to retire from working altogether. I heard about the position at the Land Bank and thought it would be a good fit. I was familiar with some of the Land Bank’s past work and believed I had something to contribute to the team.
Q: How does your previous work experience help you in your role here?
A: In my last job, I was a supervisor, which taught me valuable lessons I now apply to my work here. I also learned how to work with a variety of people and personalities, and how to complete any task given to me.
Q: Do you believe the Land Bank is making a difference in neighborhoods? How?
A: Absolutely! The Land Bank is doing a lot to help cities in Mahoning County clean up blighted properties. Neighbors and citizens see their money at work improving the areas around their homes. Additionally, the Land Bank is helping local governments strengthen their relationships with the community.
